help with Identification/ translation of ww2 officers blade

Hi all, I recently picked this sword up and I dont know anything about it other than it is a ww2 japanese army officers sword. Any info as far as translation dating or just general thoughts on the blade is greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Jon

Sorry, I am pretty sure this is not an authentic WW2 army officer's sword as a) the mei (signature) is badly done and b) the tang does not look right (file marks or shape).
