Let this be a lesson to all about auction houses.
I enquired about lot 218 an "18th Century Georgian naval officer's sword" as they stated it. I asked if the item was authentic or repro, whether the grip was ivory or fishskin or faux.
They replied;
"Thanks for your query. The sword appears to be repro. The grip is faux ivory, engraving to blade is crude."

Did Lacy Scott & Knight of Bury-St.-Edmunds change the description or warn people? No.

Someone just paid £480 plus premium £103.68 (estimate) = £583.68 for an Indian made repro worth £100
