PLEASE NOTE

It is OK to discuss eBay and other Internet items here, no problem. Typically someone may want to post details of items they are interested in (to ask questions about) or of an item they believe is false (fake, reproduction, falsely described, illegal, unlawful, etc.

The biggest issue when discussing eBay items is that these items eventually get deleted by eBay, and then the discussion / topic / archive here becomes a farce, as the eBay item can no longer be viewed. Or, indeed, the seller might find out they have been rumbled / are being discussed here and quickly remove or amend their sales listing.

So, we ask that you include a copy of the item for sale's web page; this is called a "screen grab". If you can / do not want to try to do this, don't worry, we can / will hopefully do it for you (this means we will edit your post, remove the URL link and replace it with a screen grab of the item).

To take and then post a screen grab of an item yourself;

1) Go to the item page on eBay (make sure you can see the item number so others can then find the item on eBay) / the sales site.

2) Click your keyboard's "Print Screen / SysRq" button (normally located around the top right hand corner); This actually takes a copy of your screen as an image and puts it into your PC's memory.

3) Go to your PC's / preferred image editor, for example Windows Paint (you can find it in Start > All Programs > Accessories > Paint)

4) Click "Ctrl" (bottom left of keyboard) and the character / letter "v" AT THE SAME TIME (Ctrl v) and your screen grab photo appears!

5) Save the image with an easy to remember name (it is best to save it as a jpg / jpeg image).

6) Come here to our eBay / Internet sales item forum and start a new thread by clicking "Post New Thread".

7) Click the image key in the message editor (it looks like a framed picture of a tree), find the file you saved and upload it. Look, here's one I did a little earlier!

If you want, you can take further screen grabs further down the item's page;

Then you discuss the item. Yes, this one, a katana, sold by someone in China, is one the thousands of reproduction items sold on eBay every day.

You see, now there is a permanent record of what it is you were talking about. Too late for some unscrupulous dealer / seller to remove and deny it! No worries when eBay removes the item so many days after the auction closes.

8) If you can't do it, don't worry. Just post your message and include a link to the item on eBay; hopefully our moderators will pick up on it and do the rest for you.

Note:
It is currently not possible to Ctrl v a screen grab into the post directly.
