interesting, but i have seen many waterloo swords without the spear point, there are many in the vaults at leeds armory. over 210 years have pasted and the battle of waterloo hads value to any item that can be said to have been there. many weapons have had waterloo connected with them for years, I have seen blades with waterloo stamped on them, yet the sword is much later and could never have been around in 1815,dealers have always known how to get an higher price by adding the words battle of waterloo. yes there are only a few real british heavy cavalry swords around, but a lot of austrian swords that look the same and from which the 1796 pattern was taken. One odd thing a few weeks ago i was able to have a play with a real heavy cavalry sword and after reading many books which state that it was a bad sword with know balance i found it light and easy to handle. and in the hand much smaller then one would think. michael
